Jackson's Chase At Pine Hills, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Front Royal, Virginia.
Jackson's Chase first opened for play in 1998. The course was designed by Shapemasters Inc.
Not only does Jackson's Chase offer great golf in a beautiful setting, it also offers history. As thier name implies, Confederate forces under the command of Lieutenant General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson began a pursuit of Major General Nathaniel P. Banks' fleeing Union forces from the area around the current golf course. Jackson's "chase" of Banks culminated in the First Battle of Winchester on May 25, 1862.
Today, the "chase" is for the elusive birdie, not Union soilders. The par 72 course plays to a maximum of 6,429 yards for a course rating of 70.0 and a slope rating of 120.

I have played Jacksons Chase many time since it opened, usually because a friend had made a tee time there. There are too many places to lose a ball. The fairways are tilted toward the woods and in many places there are blind shots that leave you frusterated because you cant follow your ball. Fairways have gotten a bit better but still play like someone mowed a cow pasture. The staff never seems like they are glad to see you. Rarely do they offer specials. Could use a real course designer makeover. Has potential and a great location. Long shots over the greens almost always end up with a lost ball. Greens cut too close to surrounding woods.
